Before Every Body

My name is Lucy, I am a 34yr old Mum with a complex spinal cord injury.  I suffer with chronic pain and have damaged nerves below the waist due to Cauda Equina Syndrome causing leg weakness and loss of sensation.
 
When I met Lewis, it was post COVID and I had put on a lot of weight which was exacerbating my pre-existing issues significantly.  After working with multiple physios, consultants, nurses and other specialists, I had been unable to find an exercise regime which did not quickly cause further injury and leave me step steps back.  I was referred to Lewis by my GP and I am so glad I gave it a shot.
 
At that point my mental health was at an all time low, owing to the fact I had spent the last 4-5yrs adding new things to the list I couldn’t do.
 
From day 1, Lewis took on board all of my issues and found ways to get me exercising without causing any pain, discomfort or strain.  He continuously monitored my progress, ensuring I was doing exercises correctly and safely.

The Results (Part 1…)

Thanks to Lewis, I have been able to manage being back in a gym routine without causing any further issues in my spine.

I have regained so much confidence in myself, and being able to spend time in the gym has been amazing.  I was a regular on the treadmill before my condition, so whilst I will never be able to do that again, finding alternatives has been so empowering for me.

In the first instance, my only goal was to lose weight.  Having dropped over 2st over 2023 (as shown in my Xmas 2022 and 2023 pictures) I have now decided it is time to push myself to the next level…

The Next Chapter

In January,  I decided it was time to stop lurking in my comfort zone and start building.  I was delighted to hear Lewis was up for helping me get there.
 
I started the 8 Week Mind and Body Transformation Programme on the 11th of January which has seen me finally looking at nutrition as part of my health and fitness.
 
I really expected it to be much more of a sufferance than it has been.  Lewis spent a week reviewing my current diet before suggesting healthy and protein packed alternatives.  As a Mum, I love that he gives budget friendly ideas and that his suggestions normally make meals quicker or simpler.  It has also meant my son is eating better quality meals and he is loving the high protein change of pace too!
 
In terms of the exercise plan, I love working with the Every Body PT app, it makes following my workouts so easy and I love being able to flick back through my previous workouts to help me see where to start and how much I need to push to keep getting PBs.

Lewis is in touch weekly and always there when I need advice or fall off the rails.  Every time I have a problem he has an answer, most recently, in a flare up of my condition caused by other factors beyond control, Lewis reminded me he can always find things I CAN do, which is incredibly motivating, helpful and inspiring.

Meanwhile, the progress speaks for itself, pictured here is my form/composition just 3wks apart following the programme.  My message to anyone considering signing up with Every Body is that if I can do it, you can!  Don’t let pre-existing conditions hold you back, because Lewis certainly won’t let them get in the way of helping you.
